SPRINGFIELD, Mo. - A man from Springfield, charged  in connection with a  2012 death in the 900 block of North Kansas Expressway has changed his plea to guilty.

Online court records show Robert Daniel Sondree, 35, has been sentenced to 15 years in prison under a plea agreement with prosecutors.

Sondree shoved Bobby Newman onto concrete causing Newman "serious physical injury," according to the felony complaint filed in the case.

Police found Sondree at home on Nichols around the corner from the house where the incident happened on June 29, 2012.

The probable cause statement says Sondree's sister called police and said her brother had pushed a man to the ground who hit his head. An officer who arrived at the residents had previous contact with the victim, Bobby Newman, and was able to identify him.

Several women at the house at 915 N Kansas Expressway were trying to help Newman and had put a pillow under his head.  Officers observed blood on the ground. A paramedic noted that Newman had a "hole" in the back of his head.

Police say Newman was transported to Mercy Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The probable cause statement says that Sondree argued with Newman because Sondree's girlfriend had visited Newman's house. Upon returning to the home where Sondree was the female witness says Sondree's girlfriend told Sondree that Newman had "fondled or tried to rape her"

The female witness says Sondree told her he confronted Newman and pushed him down. At one point Sondree returned to the home on Nichols and said " Oh my God, Oh my God, I killed Bobby." Sondree also said Newman was bleeding profusely.

According to an SPD press release police found Newman unresponsive at his home at 915 N. Kansas Expressway just after 8 p.m. that Friday evening, June 29.

Police say Newman was transported to Mercy Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Sondree was charged with 2nd-degree murder.
