Silver Dollar City Owners Buy Harlem Globetrotters

BRANSON, Mo. -- The world famous Harlem Globetrotters now belong to a company with deep ties to the Ozarks.

Herschend Family Entertainment Corporation, which owns Silver Dollar City, White Water and the Branson Belle, announced it has purchased Harlem Globetrotters International Incorporated.

The Harlem Globetrotters have played more than 25,000 exhibition games in six continents and 122 countries since being founded in 1926.  It is one of the most recognizable franchises in sports entertainment.

Herschend Family Entertainment is the largest family-owned themed attractions company in the U.S.
It owns and operates 26 properties throughout the country, including Silver Dollar City.

Herschend officials say the current management team and player roster of the Globetrotters will stay the same.
