SUMMERSVILLE, Mo. -- A 26-year-old Shannon County motorcyclist was killed Sunday when his cycle collided with a 1998 Mercury backing out of a private drive about 4 miles south of Summersville.

Greg A. Davis of Summersville was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash on Shannon County WW by County Coroner Tim Denton, according to a report from the Missouri Highway Patrol.

The car driven by Ronal K. Cunningham, 44, also of Summersville, was being backed out onto WW when Davis’ 2013 Suzuki crested a hill and struck the car. He was thrown from the cycle, the report said.

Davis is the first traffic fatality of 2014 in Highway Patrol Troop G, which includes nine counties in south-central Missouri.
