CAMDEN COUNTY, Mo. – Demolition is set for the second span of the Hurricane Deck Bridge at the Lake of the Ozarks on Saturday, Dec. 21 at 9 a.m.

Route 5 over the new Hurricane Deck Bridge near Sunrise beach will be closed in both directions for about 15 minutes at the time of the scheduled blast.

Water traffic will also be prohibited in a 1,500-foot radius around the bridge for about an hour.

After the area around the bridge is secured, around one million pounds of steel from the south end of the old bridge will be dropped into the Lake of the Ozarks.

The debris will be fished out of the lake and placed on barges to be processed and salvaged as scrap metal.

Before the new bridge is reopened to traffic, the road will be swept to clear any debris.

This blast is the second of three to demolish the old Hurricane Deck Bridge.  The last blast is scheduled to occur in the next two weeks.
