ROLLA, Mo. -- Firefighters in Rolla, Missouri are mourning the death of a fellow fireman, who died in a crash on I-44 earlier this week.

Clarence Steve Huffman, 44, was an engineer with the Rolla Fire and Rescue Department.  His body was found early Thursday morning about one mile west of Doolittle on I-44 in Phelps County.

The Highway Patrol says Huffman's pickup ran off the road and into the median.  When he over-corrected, the truck went back across the highway and off the south side, down a steep embankment.  Huffman was thrown from the wreckage and wasn't discovered for several hours.

Friends and colleagues filled the department's Facebook page with condolences.  The Department posted; "It is with heavy hearts that we inform you, our Brother and the President of the Local 3905, Steve Huffman, passed away earlier today. We extend our heart felt condolences to his family, friends, and fellow firefighters."
