Ridder: R-12 Working to Meet Needs of Individual Students

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- He told community leaders Thursday at Westport K-8 School that things are in good shape, but R-12 needs to improve on how it meets the needs of individual students.
SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- Springfield Superintendant Dr. Norm Ridder is offering his thoughts on the state of our schools.

He told community leaders Thursday at Westport K-8 School that things are in good shape, but R-12 needs to improve on how it meets the needs of individual students.

"It's very difficult because the needs are so vast and so different, but we're getting good at it. That's where we probably need the greatest improvement."

Ridder says attendance rates are high and a new breakfast in the classroom program is off to a good start. He credits strong teachers for the districts success.

Rep. Billy Long (R-7th District) was also at Thursday's event. He toured the new FEMA-approved tornado shelter/gym.
