SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- Now that rain is out of the forecast, Kansas Expressway will be closing at James River Freeway from 8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 16 until 6 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 18.

Work to complete the Diverging Diamond was delayed twice due to wet weather.

MoDOT says Kansas Expressway and the ramps at the interchange at James River Freeway (Route 60) will be closed during the construction. Sunday's reopening could be postponed until Monday if need be, but MoDOT stresses that the morning rush shouldn't be affected.

Kansas Expressway will be closed between Republic Road and Chesterfield Boulevard. Drivers will have to use other nearby interchanges on James River Freeway to get to their destinations. However, access to all businesses near the interchange will remain open.

Drivers are urged to use caution when the interchange reopens early Sunday morning, Aug. 18. The traffic pattern on Kansas Expressway at James River Freeway will be in the Diverging Diamond traffic pattern. Please follow all pavement markings and road signs to get through the interchange safely.
