JOPLIN, MO.--- Rebuild Joplin volunteers didn't let the cold stop them from welcoming the 112th family back into a home. Rebuild Joplin along with other volunteers who worked on a home off of 18th Street, held a housewarming ceremony for Sid.

Sid's home was damaged beyond repair during the May 2011 tornado. Earlier this year, Rebuild Joplin held a groundbreaking at the home, hitting it with sledgehammers to mark the first step in getting Sid back home. The executive director says it's wonderful to have Sid back in his house in time for Christmas.

"This would've been Sid's third Christmas out of his house. So the fact that we're able to get Sid back into his home, which is his bedrock, a place where he can really call his own, is really wonderful," said Chad Carson, Rebuild Joplin Executive Director.

Nearly 120 volunteers, including NASCAR Driver Kasey Kahne, helped rebuild Sid's home. Those volunteers were part of United Church of Christ, South Joplin Christian Church, Christian Church in the U.S. and Canada, and the Tulsa Community Foundation.
