Public Input Needed for Superintendent Search

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- The Springfield R-12 school board has begun the search for a new superintendent. It has hired a search firm and now wants to hear from the public about what qualities to look for.
SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- The Springfield R-12 school board has begun the search for a new superintendent.  It has hired a search firm and now wants to hear from the public about what qualities to look for.

The School Board has set up 17 meetings where the superintendent search will be talked about - six of those are specifically for community input.  The others are for SPS principals, employees, union representatives and business and government leaders.

The six public input meetings are scheduled November 18 and 19:


Monday, Nov. 18

  • 6 p.m.  Parents, students and community members, Glendale High School cafeteria, 2727 S. Ingram Mill Road, Springfield, MO, 65804

  • 6:30 p.m.  Parents, students and community members, Kickapoo High School cafeteria, 3710 S. Jefferson Ave., Springfield, MO, 65807

  • 7 p.m.  Parents, students and community members, Parkview High School cafeteria, 516 W. Meadowmere St., Springfield, MO 65807


Tuesday, Nov. 19

  • 6:30 p.m.  Parents, students and community members, Hillcrest High School cafeteria, 3319 N. Grant Ave., Springfield, MO, 65803

Current R-12 Superintendent Dr. Norm Ridder will leave the district as of June, 2014 after 9 years.  Executive search firm McPherson & Jacobson has been hired to find candidates for the job.
