Pedestrian Killed on I-44 Identified

STRAFFORD, Mo. – Officials have released the identity of a man killed Friday evening when he was struck while attempting to cross Interstate 44 near Strafford.

Remling, who was the 116th traffic fatality of 2013 in southwest Missouri’s patrol Troop D, was pronounced dead at the scene, the report said.

He was hit as he tried to cross the interstate from the south side by a an eastbound 2000 Chevrolet Camaro driven by Scott A. Poe, 24, of Strafford, the patrol said.

Traffic was backed up for about 5 miles after the accident.

Investigators said Remling was wearing dark clothing and they believe no one is at fault.

No one inside the car was injured.
