SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- Missouri Governor Jay Nixon will be in Springfield today to talk about the education funding in his new budget.
SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- Missouri Governor Jay Nixon will be in Springfield today to talk about the education funding in his new budget.

He'll be at the Shady Dell Early Childhood Center on East Division at 10:50.

The appearance follows Tuesday's State of the State address, where Nixon said his budget includes an additional nearly $500 million for education.

Nixon said he wants more technology, smaller class sizes and well-prepared teachers.  He says his budget increases funding for K-12 classrooms and puts additional dollars behind the Access Missouri Scholarship Program so students from low-income families can get the financial aid they need.
