Nixa Police Go Into Emergency Status

NIXA, Mo. – Due to hazardous conditions from the winter weather, Nixa Police have gone into emergency status effective immediately.
NIXA, Mo. – Due to hazardous conditions from the winter weather, Nixa Police have gone into emergency status effective immediately.

According to a news statement, Nixa Police will only respond to priority calls for service relating to the general safety and welfare of the public, as well as the following:

  • motor vehicle accidents involving injuries
  • suspected impaired drivers
  • accidents where the vehicles are stranded and require removal for safe passage of other vehicles 
  • or accidents where one vehicle leaves the scene of an accident

Motorists involved in non-injury accidents are asked to exchange drivers and insurance information and go to the Nixa Police Department to file an accident report after Emergency Status has been lifted.




Tips for winter travel:
  • Remove all snow/ice from windows before driving.
  • Remain alert. Do not operate a cell phone or other device while driving.
  • Allow for greater stopping distance between you and the car in front of you.
  • Slow down, adjust speed to road conditions.
  • Carry an emergency kit in your vehicle that includes water, a blanket, an ice scraper, and sand or kitty litter for traction.
