New Year's Eve Festivities in Springfield

From dinner to drinks and the movies, Springfield residents spent New Years Eve out and about the city.
SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- From eating to drinking, to a night on the town, there's much to do in the city this New Year's Eve.

A new year's toast wouldn't be possible with that perfect bottle of bubbly.  Many started their evening with getting a last-minute bottle of champagne.

But with dozens of selections and prices to choose from, it can be a difficult task. For an affordable, quality alcoholic beverage, Sommelier Darin Link of the Brown Derby International Wine Center recommends champagne, specifically Blanquette de Limoux, most of which average between $15 and $25.

And from affordable wine to a tasty meal- it's a new year and a new day for Farmer's Gastropub. December 31st marks not only the debut of the restaurant's New Years Eve special menu, but also the opening day of its new location along Glenstone Ave. Among the many items on the special menu is duck confit.

For those of you who are looking for good deals to ring in the new year, movie theaters, like Campbell 16 Cinema, offered a special package. A $16 ticket could buy you a movie, refillable soda and popcorn, and New Year's Eve regalia to ring for midnight.

But however you decide to spend your countdown to 2014, many say it's all about taking everything into perspective.
