New Study Shows More Car Accidents Happen Around Christmas

JOPLIN, MO-- A new study shows car accidents increase the highest during this time of year
JOPLIN, Mo. -- A new study shows car accidents increase the most during this time of year, according to the University of Alabama Center for Advanced Public Safety, the cause is holiday travel.

The recent study shows that in the past 10 years, the six days surrounding Christmas had 18 percent more car accidents than Thanksgiving and 27 percent more than New Years Day.

Those who conducted the study report the accidents can be attributed to late Christmas shopping and long distance travelers who may not be familiar with the area around their destination.
