JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – Police say no other information will be released on the death of Markell and Demetrius Beasley until conclusive facts are determined, but they clarify that Demetrius was not the biological father to Markell.

In a news release, the Jefferson City Police confirm that Demetrius was not the biological father to Markell and his name was not listed on Markell’s birth certificate.

“The investigation to this point leads police to believe that Markell thought of Demetrius as a father figure,” says the release. “But Demetrius had no legal right or custody to the child.”

Further investigation into the case revealed that Markell was taken to St. Louis initially by two male friends of Demetrius; one was a known friend to Markell’s mother.

It is believed by police that neither of the two men had any knowledge of the plans set by Demetrius to abduct Markell.

The investigation into the case will continue throughout the week and following weekend. Police say further details may be made available by early next week.
