New Bowling League To Help Charities

The Bud-Bair Bowling League at Battlefield Lanes will raise money for local charities.
SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- Springfield sports fans are familiar with team tennis from the Lasers, but what about team bowling?

That will make its Ozarks area debut this year with the Bud-Bair charity league at Battlefield Lanes.

The concept is simple, four person teams will compete in seven week tournaments. Then the top teams will bowl for the championship. Those seven week championships and the ultimate championship will be televised on KOZL.

In addition, the winning teams will earn money for themselves and for local charities.

"We host a lot of fundraisers here at Battlefield Lanes," says JR Huyck, Battlefield Lanes general manager. "And we love to see people come in and have a good time. And money being raised for worthy charities. Why can't we have a league that has the same kind of vehicle and lasts for 35 weeks."
