Morning Sports Report - August 19, 2013

Jamaal Charles talks about his injury, the Cards win, Royals lose - and Nick Carboni has it all in your Monday morning sports report.
It might just be practice football, but many Chiefs fans seemed to be concerned whether they'll see running back Jamaal Charles play again in the pre-season.

Charles caused chaos in Chiefs Nation for a few hours Monday, getting carted off the field with a minor foot strain.
He missed the rest of the week on the practice field and didn't play in Friday's loss to San Francisco.

He did, however, practice Sunday.  Which means reporters got to ask him about it.
Charles says the injury is still sore, and his playing status is being evaluated day to day.

Our next KC Blitz show is Saturday night at 6pm on KOZL, before the Chiefs take on the Pittsburg Steels.
Our fourth and final KC Blitz pre-season show will be Thursday, August 29th at 6:30 before the Chiefs-Packers game at Arrowhead

Adam Wainright struck out 11...Jon jay hit a three run homer as the St. Louis Cards beat the Cubs 6-1 Sunday.
That gives the Cards the series win and a Pittsburgh loss in 16 innings to Arizona cuts the Bucs lead on the Birds to just a game.
The Cards are in Milwaukee tonight.

Kansas City falls 6-3 to the first place Detroit Tigers Sunday.
Miguel Cabrera hit his 40th home run.
The loss puts the Royals 8 and a half games out of the division lead

And six games out of the wild card race, the Springfield Cardinals end a six-game road trip with a 3-2 win at Midland Sunday night.
Cards are 3-and-3 on the Texas swing.  It's their last trip down there this season.
The Cards are off tonight.   They'll start a four-game series with Royals affiliate Northwest Arkansas tomorrow at Hammons Field.
