MoDOT: Pothole Repair, Drivers Urged to Use Caution

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- MoDOT is taking on the potholes in the southwest district over the next several days. Hazardous winter weather and cold temperatures have led to freezing water on roadways. When water seeps into cracks in the road and freezes it expands and creates potholes.
SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- MoDOT is taking on the potholes in the southwest district over the next several days. Hazardous winter weather and cold temperatures have led to freezing water on roadways. When water seeps into cracks in the road and freezes it expands and creates potholes.

Lane closures and work zones during the roadwork might cause delays for drivers. MoDOT says drivers should use extreme caution as they travel state routes throughout southwest Missouri.

Road crews will use several different methods to patch the potholes including workers on-foot shoveling materials in to fill the holes as well as using patch machines. MoDOT plans to make more permanent repairs to roads in the spring.

If you come in contact with a large pothole on a state route you can report the pothole by emailing the location and the route via the MoDOT website at www.modot.org/southwest or by calling 1.888.275.6636.
