Prescription Drug Take-Back Events Throughout Ozarks on Saturday

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- Get rid of your old prescription drugs and expired over-the-counter medications on Saturday, Oct. 26, at prescription drug take-back events in the Ozarks.
SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- Get rid of your old prescription drugs and expired over-the-counter medications at medicine take-back events in the Ozarks on Saturday, Oct. 26.

Coordinated and sponsored by the Community Partnership of the Ozarks and Ozarks Area Pharmacy Association, the take-back in Springfield is set for 7 a.m. to noon at Central Assembly of God, 1301 N. Boonville Ave., and from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at these locations:
  • Dan’s Discount Drug Mart, 2625 N. Kansas Expressway;
  • The Medicine Shoppe, 811 E. Battlefield Road;
  • Orchard Hills Pharmacy, 3816 W. Chestnut Expressway;
  • South Oaks Pharmacy, 3305 S. Campbell St.;
  • Smith Glynn Callaway Clinic Pharmacy, 3231 S. National;
  • Sunshine Health Mart, 1536 W. Sunshine.

In Branson, medications can be dropped off from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Branson Police Department lobby.

Anyone can participate and may drop off any unwanted medication the permanent prescription drop box which is in the lobby of the Police Department. The RX drop box is accessible 24 hours a day 7 days a week so if anyone is unable to drop their medication off on the take-back event, they are welcome to bring it by and drop it off at any time.

The Branson take-back is sponsored by the Police Department and the Taney County Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention Team (ADAPT).

“This is a good opportunity for people to safely empty out their medicine cabinet of drugs they don’t need any more or have expired, including prescription drugs that contain controlled substances,” said Officer Donathan of the Branson Police Department.

The Reduce the Abuse Coalition of Christian County will also hold a DEA-sponsored Drug Take Back event from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 25 at the Family Pharmacies in Clever, Ozark, and Sparta.

Anyone wishing to disposed of over-the-counter or prescription medication can drop it off at any of the following locations on Saturday. There is no cost for the event.

Over-the-counter medications
Pet Medication
Sample medications
Liquid Medication in glass or leakproof containers

Non-accepted items:
Needles (sharps)
Hydrogen Peroxide
Aerosol cans
