The Nikkei is up 119 points today in trading in Japan.
On Wall Street, the Dow closed up 205 points after the 11th hour Senate agreement to avoid a U.S. debt default.
And the Nasdaq gained 45.

With investors turning their attention to corporate earnings, several positive results boosted stocks throughout the day. Mattel gained about two percent after the company's third quarter income rose due to high demand for dolls like Monster High, Barbie and American Girl.
Bank of America was also up after reporting a surge in third quarter earnings.
And jury selection for the federal criminal trial of five ex employees of jailed financier Bernard Madoff wrapped up Wednesday afternoon in New York. Jurors also heard opening statements. The defendants include Madoff's longtime former secretary and the director of investments at the firm he headed starting in  the 1970's. The 75 year old Madoff is currently serving a 150 year sentence for the ponzi scheme  that was uncovered  in 2008.
