The Nikkei is 126 point ahead today in trading in Tokyo
On Wall Street, the Dow slid 73 points Thursday, but ended the month nearly 3 percent ahead.
And the Nasdaq was down 11, but gained 4 percent overall in October.

There were no tricks, only treats for investors this October. Stocks rallied last month on strong earnings and news that the Fed will hold off on tapering its stimulus plan.

It's a little cheaper to finance a home. Mortgage rates fell for the second straight week and are at their lowest level in four months. According to mortgage buyer Freddie Mac, the average rate on the 30 year loan fell to 4.10 percent while the rate on a 15 year loan is averaging 3.20 percent.

A strange odor has some Dell customers crying "foul". Some owners of the Dell Latitude 6430u laptops are complaining their new new computers smell like cat urine. They say the odor seems to be coming from the keyboard or palm rest. Dell says the strange scent is related to a manufacturing process which the company has since fixed. Affected customers can contact Dell to have the laptop's palm assembly replaced.

Kraft Foods will remove artificial dyes from three of its macaroni and cheese varieties that come in kid friendly shapes like Spongebob Square Pants. The dye-free mac and cheese will be available early next year. Kraft is trying to attract shoppers looking for foods with more natural ingredients.
