Man Jailed After Attempting to Set Girlfriend on Fire

GAINESVILLE, Mo. – A 29-year-old Dora man is in the Ozark County Jail today accused of dousing his girlfriend with gasoline and trying to set her on fire.
GAINESVILLE, Mo. – A 29-year-old Dora man is in the Ozark County Jail today accused of dousing his girlfriend with gasoline and trying to set her on fire.

According to online court records, Dalton Cody Massey is charged with 1st degree assault in connection with incidents on Sunday morning at the home of his girlfriend in Dora, Mo.

Ozark County Sheriff Darrin Reed said in a news release that Massey was arrested after the Sheriff’s Office received a call about 12:30 a.m. Sunday from the woman.
She told deputies that Massey had poured the gasoline on her and then thrown a lighter on her as she ran out the back door of the home barefoot into the snow, Reed said.

She ran to her landlord’s home and deputies found and arrested Massey on a charge of suspicion of driving while intoxicated and related traffic offenses.

He was taken to the Ozark County Jail where he remains in lieu of $75,000 bond on the assault charge, according to online records. He is to appear in court at 9 a.m. Dec. 17.
