Man Arrested for Assaulting Police Officer, K-9

PULASKI COUNTY, Mo. -- A man has been charged for assaulting a police officer and his K-9, according to the sheriff’s office.

Joshua Julius, 28, received four felony charges along with one misdemeanor after a criminal episode Monday evening. Pulaski County sheriff deputies were dispatched to a home in regards to a domestic assault. Julius had already fled on foot when deputies arrived.

Deputies were then notified by a neighbor that a man matching the suspect’s description attempted to unlawfully enter their home. The K-9 led officers to Julius, who was hiding in the woods.

Julius resisted arrest and assaulted the deputy and the K-9 multiple times in effort to escape. After he was apprehended Julius was taken to a local hospital for minor injuries and then released to Pulaski County Jail.

According to the Pulaski County Prosecuting Attorney’s office, Julius has been formally charged for the offenses of 2nd degree domestic assault, 1st degree burglary, assaulting a law enforcement official, resisting arrest for a felony offense and assault on a police animal. Joshua Julius’ bond was set at $250,000.
