Local Leaders Step Up for Branson's Day of Caring

BRANSON, Mo. – Friday marks the Annual Day of Caring in Branson and some of the city’s community leaders aren’t afraid of getting their hands dirty, in a good way.
BRANSON, Mo. – Friday marks the Annual Day of Caring in Branson and some of the city’s community leaders aren’t afraid of getting their hands dirty, in a good way.

The event is sponsored by the Chamber of Commerce and brings local elected officials together with business owners to perform community service throughout the town.

Throughout the day, they pick up trash and work on buildings or civic projects.

The Chamber collects sponsorships and donations to fund new outreach each year.  Volunteers say it’s a chance to build camaraderie with other local leaders and do some good in the city.

“All of us can do this in a day,” says Randy Brashears, with the IMAX Theater. “It might take them a month or longer to pitch in and do it themselves, but I think it gives people hope. It gives them a little bit of a blessing, so that’s why we do it.”

Some of the organizations the event helped include Jesus Was Homeless, the Branson Rec-Plex, and Habitat for Humanity.
