Local Hospitals Help Sign Up for Health Care

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- Local hospitals are working hard to get people signed up for health insurance before the deadline later this month.
SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- Local hospitals are working hard to get people signed up for health insurance before the deadline later this month.

Despite early problems with the website, Healthcare.gov, counselors at Mercy say the website is working better than ever.

Still, some people are forced to wait if too many people access the website at one time.

"The waiting times vary so that's maybe one downside,” says Rachel Turley, a financial counselor. “But it's really worth it once people get into the website and see what they're eligible for.”

Counselors say the hospital is accepting walk-ins and appointments.

Those buying insurance have until the Dec. 23 to meet the January 1 deadline.
