Library Turns Play Time into Learning Event

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- Parents looking for ways to keep their young children occupied on a cold day may want to consider the library.
SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- Parents looking for ways to keep their young children occupied on a cold day may want to consider the library.

On Monday, a group of children 3 years old or younger were entertained with Tiny Tots Story Time.

"Children are absorbing the world and absorbing words, their brains are forming at such a quick rate when they're this age, and so we want to make sure that we're exposing them to lots of stories, lots of different words, lots of different songs," Grace Bentley, the Library Station Youth Services Manager, said.

Bentley said the library aims to create a fun and relaxed environment so kids feel like they’re playing.

Parents can learn something, too – like fun ways to improve literacy skills for their children.
