Hi there! My name is Laura Kennedy and I am so excited to join the KOLR/KOZL news team as a reporter.

My journey to Missouri began in Phoenix, Arizona, where I grew up and attended college. I graduated from Arizona State University Summa Cum Laude and Phi Beta Kappa with a B.A. in Journalism, a B.A. in Human Communication, and a degree from Barrett, The Honors College.

During school I produced a documentary called "Click for a Soul Mate" which was nominated for an Emmy in the Rocky Mountain Region.

I began my TV career at KULR-8 News, the NBC affiliate in Billings, Montana. I fell in love with Big Sky Country and had a blast exploring the national parks, skiing in Red Lodge, and making lifelong friends.

Giving back to the community is a big part of my life. I have volunteered for many organizations, notably Big Brothers, Big Sisters and the National MS Society. I love helping out with children's charities because it not only helps the kids now, but sets an example for them about the benefits of volunteerism.

I was honored to be a 2013 ServeMontana Award Recipient from the Governor's Office of Community Service. I can't wait to get to know the charities in Springfield and begin helping those in need.

In my spare time, I am pursuing my MBA online from the W.P. Carey School of Business at Arizona State University. I also love to perform in choir and theater, as well as attending shows and concerts.
