Kickapoo Outscores McCluer North

Kickapoo beats McCluer North 57-37 in Phillips Classic.
SPRINGFIELD, Mo--Kickapoo high school tipped off it's girls basketball tournament Thursday night.

The fourth annual Stephanie Phillips Classic honors the former Lady Chiefs coach who died of cancer.

And raises awareness of the fight against the disease.

The host Kickapoo team took on McCluer North in the first round.

And the Stars hot from the perimeter, Alyzabeth Jones with the three, it's 3-2 McCluer North.

But Kickapoo would storm back, Laura Vierkant stops and pops from the free throw line, it's  6-3 Lady Chiefs.

Then the Chiefs dish it inside to six foot Natalie Closser, she's working hard on the block for the basket, 8-5 Kickapoo.

Kickapoo swinging the ball into the corner for Vierkant, she knocks down the three ball, it's a 10-5 Lady Chiefs lead.

Later 5-foot-3, Bre Taylor taking it into the paint for the hoop, Kickapoo by three.

And Kickapoo goes onto win 57-37.
