CLINTON, Mo. - A judge in Henry County has sentenced an Ava man to 20 years in prison after he pleaded guilty to reduced charges of second-degree murder in the 2011 slaying of a teenager from Ava.

Christopher Jorgensen, 29, also of Ava, was to have been tried on a change of venue in Henry County on charges of first-degree murder, armed criminal action and abandonment of a corpse, but entered a guilty plea in June to the reduced charge, according to online court records.

He accepted a plea agreement and pleaded guilty to the beating and stabbing death of Kenny Stout, 17, whose body was found early Dec. 11, 2011 in a wooded area near the Ava Country Club at 521 Route 1, just west of Ava.

According to court documents, Jorgensen allegedly killed Stout because of a dispute between Stout and a third man.

A probable cause statement says Stout was stabbed in the chest and severely beaten and left along a logging road near the country club.

Probable cause statements in the case claim Jorgensen beat Stout and left him in the woods between 4 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. on December 13, and then returned about 11 p.m. to find Stout still alive, where he stabbed him several times, causing his death.
