Imagination Library Celebrates Anniversary

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- A program that encourages young kids to read just celebrated its anniversary. The Library Center put on an event as part of Dolly Parton's “Imagination Library”. Once a month a new, free book arrives at the homes of kids five and under.

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- A program that encourages young kids to read just celebrated its anniversary. The library center put on an event as part of Dolly Parton's “Imagination Library”. Once a month a new, free book arrives at the homes of kids five and under.

Misty Harder says her family always gets excited when they get a new book in the mail, “We sit down immediately and read it".

Jennifer Kennally, United Way of the Ozarks President, says "I don't think there is anything more important than you can for a little one then to hold them on your lap, open up a book and read to them.  Every single day, at least 15 minutes."

In nine months 1400 children have registered into the program in Greene County, ahead of their yearly goal.
