House Fire Kills One in Benton County

BENTON COUNTY, Mo. – An autopsy is to be conducted in Columbia on human remains discovered in the ruins of a burned home today in Benton County.
BENTON COUNTY, Mo. – An autopsy is to be conducted in Columbia, Mo. on human remains discovered in the ruins of a burned home Wednseday, Nov. 13 in Benton County.

The Benton County Sheriff’s Department said it responded along with the Warsaw Fire Department shortly before 5 a.m. on Vixen Avenue at Keithly’s Beach in southeast Benton County.

After the fire was extinguished, a body was found in the ruins, says Sheriff Rick Fajen.

The remains were taken to Columbia for the autopsy and for identification.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
