Various news outlets report the journalist is in the final stages of negotiating a deal to join Yahoo.
This is the latest effort by the internet giant to bring new viewers to its online content.
As for Couric's talk show, reports say that's an entirely different matter.
Ratings will decide if the show stays or goes.

Doctor Conrad Murray is giving some details about his life with Michael Jackson.
Murray gave interviews to Australia's "60 Minutes" and London's "Daily Mail" newspaper.
