GREENE COUNTY, Mo. -- Greene County Clerk Richard Struckhoff announced today he will not seek another term in 2014.

Struckhoff, appointed to the position in December 1987, will be the longest serving Clerk in Greene County history with a 27-year run by December 2014.

“This is something I’ve been planning for a couple of years now,” says Struckhoff in a news release.

Prior to becoming Greene County Clerk, Struckhoff served on the staff of U. S. Senator Jack Danforth and was news director and anchor at KWTO radio in Springfield.

He sought higher political office only once in 1992, in an unsuccessful run for Missouri Secretary of State.

Although there is still more than a year left in Struckhoff’s current term, filing begins on February 25, 2014 for those hoping to succeed him in office.
