SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- Like a good scare? All this month, Justin Dougherty KOLR KOZL will take us to some local haunts on Friday Fear Days.
We'll start off easy today...and get creepier as we get closer to Halloween.

A good scare is prime this time of the year.
Fear is defined as a distressing emotion aroused by impending danger.. evil... or pain.

At the Rutledge-Wilson Farm Park in Springfield, fear is not the usual emotion.
Or that's at least what we believe... For now.

Behind this child friendly and family oriented farm, there lies a deep dark secret in its woods.

"We want to be known as the most friendliest park by day, and by night we want to be the scariest."

Nick Breithaupt and Rutledge Wilson Farm have something in store for the fear seekers.

"The whole thing is in the woods. So then you add elements of actual hunters and music..."

And its a quarter of a mile loop is strategically filled to make visitors scream.

"They think of the trail all year long," Breithaupt says.

First you begin with a hay ride, which takes you straight to the front gates of the haunted trail.

"It is entirely paved so you don't have to worry about slipping on leaves or mud."

While the pavement will only keep you clean, the rest is up to you

"It's just natural scary at night. Shadows, your imagination tends to wonder, and when you add actual scary elements. It really makes for a frightening experience," Breithaupt warns.

An experience that could scare even the bravest and most knowledgeable of souls...

"Personally I know where everything is and I still get scared when I come down here," Breithaupt claims.

The Haunted Trail opens tonight.  The Haunted Trail is open Fridays and Saturdays, 6-10 p.m., Oct. 4 - 27. The Pumpkin Patch and Corn Maze also stay open late while the Haunted Trail is open.
