'Food Fight' at Springfield Schools Brings in 10,579 Lbs. of Food

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- Springfield Public Schools crowned Pleasant View Elementary a champion of Food Fight 2013, a food drive competition.
SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- Springfield Public Schools crowned Pleasant View Elementary a champion of Food Fight 2013, a food drive competition.

Students from Pleasant View Middle School and Hillcrest High each won their divisions. 

Altogether, 19 Springfield schools collected 10,579 pounds of food -- the equivalent of 8,815 meals.

It all goes to Ozarks Food Harvest, which will distribute the food to more than 200 nonprofits in 28 counties.

Elementary Schools
Pleasant View Elementary: 699 pounds (3.01 pounds per student)
Boyd Elementary: 499 pounds (1.96 pounds per student)
Bingham Elementary: 740 pounds (1.77 pounds per student)
Truman Elementary: 685 pounds (1.71 pounds per student)
Shady Dell ECC: 296 pounds (1.64 pounds per student)
Jefferies Elementary: 714 pounds (1.19 pounds per student)
Wanda Gray Elementary: 476 pounds (.93 pounds per student)
Sequiota Elementary: 318 pounds (.91 pounds per student)
Weller Elementary: 307 pounds (.85 pounds per student)
Delaware Elementary: 177 pounds (.75 pounds per student)
Horace Mann: 302 pounds (.67 pounds per student)
Bissett Elementary: 181 pounds (.59 pounds per student)
Mark Twain Elementary: 237 pounds (.48 pounds per student)
