Flood Threat Continues Today for the Ozarks

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- The threat of flooding will extend through the afternoon across the Ozarks, including a flood warning for counties near the Kansas border.
Flood Warning until 3pm Thursday for these counties
Southwest Missouri:
Barton, Benton, Cedar, Morgan, St. Clair and Vernon.
Southeast Kansas:
Bourbon, Cherokee, Crawford

At 3:00 am ...National Weather Service Doppler radar indicated an area of persistent rainfall expanding from southeast Kansas into west central and central Missouri.
Radar estimated that amounts ranged from one half of an inch to two inches within the warned area. An additional two inches of widespread rainfall is expected over this same region this morning and early this afternoon.

Runoff from this rain will cause flooding to occur. The Little Osage and Marmaton Rivers will be impacted by this heavy rain...as significant rises in these streams and their tributaries are likely through today.

Flash Flood Watch Until 1 PM, Flood Warning until 3 pm for:
Barry, Barton, Benton, Camden, Cedar, Christian, Dade, Dallas, Dent, Douglas, Greene, Hickory, Howell, Jasper, Laclede, Lawrence, Maries, McDonald, Miller, Morgan, Newton, Oregon, Ozark, Phelps, Polk, Pulaski, Shannon, St. Clair, Stone, Taney, Texas, Vernon, Webster and Wright counties.

Heavy rainfall amounts of 1 to 3 inches and flooding are likely in parts of the region today.
A conditional risk of hail and high wind exists over the eastern Ozarks early this afternoon should enough instability develop.
Timing: Today from early this morning through early afternoon
Impact:  Flooding of low water crossings and low lying areas along rivers and streams will be possible.

Be prepared to move to higher ground should a flash flood warning be issued for your location.
Rainfall should end from west to east during the afternoon
