The movie version of "Fifty Shades of Grey" has its lead female and male stars.
Deadline reported Monday that actress Dakota Johnson will portray Anastasia Steele on the big screen in the Universal Pictures and Focus Features film.
Johnson comes from a family of actors; she's the daughter of Don Johnson and Melanie Griffith and has starred in "The Social Network," "The Five-Year Engagement" and "21 Jump Street." The 23-year-old actress has also appeared in the TV series "Ben and Kate" and guest-starred on "The Office."
Now she'll tackle the role of Steele, a recent college graduate -- with little sexual experience -- who gets caught up in a romance with wealthy entrepreneur Christian Grey, who will be played by "Sons of Anarchy" star Charlie Hunnam.
The book's author EL James tweeted the news:
Hunnan has also appeared in the films "Cold Mountain," "Children of Men" and "The Ledge."
The movie, to be directed by Sam Taylor-Johnson, will hit theaters on Aug. 1, 2014. The trilogy has been translated in 50-plus languages and has sold more than 70 million copies worldwide.
