OZARK, Mo. - A Sparta man who pleaded guilty to charges in connection with a car crash that killed his son has been sentenced to 14 years in prison.

John C. Clark, 36, was given 7 years on each of five charges - one count of involuntary manslaughter and four counts of second-degree assault - but the manslaughter and one assault sentences are to be served concurrently and the other three also are to be concurrent, but consecutive to the first 7-year term, according to online court records.

The manslaughter charge was filed on evidence that Clark was driving while intoxicated at the time of the crash.  Missouri Highway Patrol troopers said in an accident report that Clark was driving drunk in Christian County when he crashed into two other cars, killing his 3-year-old son, Kohen, in November of 2012.

Christian County Circuit Judge Mark Orr presided over the case and sentenced Clark on Friday.
