SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- The holidays look a little better for a family of 11. The Ready family just moved to Springfield from Detroit. They've been homeless for months, but now have a new home and some new beds.

Two new beds were donated to the family Monday, Dec. 9, by Slumberland and Stephanie Ready says that all she wants if for her children to feel good. All nine of them, ranging in ages from 18 months to 18 years.

It’s been a tough year for the family, after being homeless, separated and even living out of a van. But, things are looking up says Stephanie.

“ It's been kind of hard for us the last five months,” says Stephanie. “But the best part was moving in here finally got our own house right before Thanksgiving.”

Stephanie is now working hard to make her house a home, adding in the two donated beds for the kids.

“When they called us about the beds, I was real happy about that because we've been making pallets and sleep on the floor and stuff like,” says Stephanie.

The kids were happy, too.

“They are very comfortable,” says Gabriell. “It feels good to be on the new bed because they are comfortable and soft.”

This is one holiday the kids are looking forward to.

So this was their Christmas present,” says Stephanie. “I don't get to buy them to much for Christmas this year, but I told them we are in our own house and we aren’t in a shelter so that's the best thing. I just saved up my own money and got us into our own house.”

The Ready's said they look forward to spending Christmas together in the warmth and comfort of their new home. Stephanie says the kids are doing great in school, too. Some even made the honor roll.
