SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – A house was burned to the ground in the early hours of Saturday on the 1500 block of East Farm Rd. 48, according to the Ebenezer Fire Department.

According to Ebenezer Fire Department Battalion Chief Zachary Enokido, the department received a call around 6 a.m. Flames from the house fire could be seen up to four miles away.

When responders arrived on scene, the two-story home was fully engulfed in flame.

“Trees were on fire,” says Enokido, one of the first responders on scene. “It was like a volcano that was erupting.”

Several surrounding units responded to the fire and were able to contain it to the house. Surrounding buildings, cars and land were saved.

“The house was a total loss,” says Enokido.

The occupants were a little luckier.

“The occupants were able to get out,” says Enokido. “From, I believe, the second story window.”

Though there were no injuries in the fire, the occupants suffered the loss of a family dog to the flames.

At the time of the fire, the occupants’ names have not been released.

An investigation of the fire is ongoing.
