SPRINGFIELD, Mo.--It’s Eagle Days at the Springfield Conservation Nature Center at Lake Springfield Park.

This weekend Eagle Days returns to Lake Springfield Park on Jan. 18 from 9 am to 4 pm and Jan. 19 from 12 am to 4 pm, giving attendees the opportunity to learn more about eagles and other migratory birds that nest near the shores of the lake during the winter months.

The annual event brings eagle-spotting opportunities to the Lake Springfield Boathouse. Participants are invited to bring binoculars, telephoto-lens cameras, or small telescopes.

Some viewing materials will be provided by the Springfield Nature Center with guided eagle spotting at Lake Springfield that includes the James River Greenway Trail and the Greater Ozarks Audubon Trail.

Eagle Days also includes some indoor activities that feature Phoenix, Bald eagles, Aquila, and Golden Eagles, all from the Dickerson Park Zoo.

Eagle Days is sponsored by the Missouri Department of Conservation, Dickerson Park Zoo, and the Springfield-Greene County Park Board. All events are free and open to the public.
