Department of Agriculture Shuts Down Alma Meats

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. -- The Missouri Department of Agriculture has shut down a west central Missouri meat processor for sanitation violations.
JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. -- The Missouri Department of Agriculture has shut down a west central Missouri meat processor for sanitation violations.

A inspection team from the department found that Kleoppel Meats, doing business as Alma Meats of Alma, Mo., was selling meats to consumers that had not been properly handled and inspected.

In addition, the processor is recalling more than 320 pounds of meat including summer sausage, snack sticks, beef jerky and roast pork.

Consumers who bought meat products from Alma Meats either directly or from area grocery stores should look for products prepared between Nov. 14 and 23, and return any unused portion to Alma Meats, 100 North County Rd. in Alma.
