SUNRISE BEACH, Mo. -- The search for kidnapping and rape suspect Brian Adkison enters day six, with increased patrols.
Sgt. Paul Reinsch with the Missouri Highway Patrol told KRCG News officers were called to a residence in the Coffman Bend area around 4 p.m. Wednesday.
"They heard a boat leaving the dock area of the residence as they approached the building and that boat was located around 5:30 in the Little Buffalo Cove area and one subject was seen running into a wooded area at that time at the 66 mile marker of the Lake of the Ozarks. We are setting up a perimeter with Camden County and Morgan County officers at this time."
KRCG reports officers may set up roadblocks, or monitor the water. They are using K9's to search the woods.
"A helicopter can be used with a thermal imaging unit which detects heat," added Sgt. Reinsch. "The subject is possibly armed and dangerous so we do ask them if they encounter the subject to just call law enfourcement don't try to make an arrest themselves so-to-speak but to make sure they get officers there as soon as possible."
SUNRISE BEACH, Mo. -- Authorities are searching the Lake of the Ozarks for a man wanted in a violent abduction.
Brian Adkison allegedly kidnapped his ex-girlfriend, an MU student, near her home in Caldwell County on Saturday. She later called her family from a hospital to tell them she was okay.
Sgt. Paul Reinsh with the Missouri State Highway Patrol says deputies caught up with Adkison Monday around 1 p.m. in Sunrise Beach. After a brief chase, the suspect abandoned his vehicle -- a vehicle stolen from the Blue Springs area -- along Highway 5.
The Patrol has since recovered the vehicle, and is now using a helicopter, tracking dogs, and a marine unit (Water Patrol) around the Lake of the Ozarks. The Camden County Sheriff is assisting.
Reinsh says Adkison may even be on the water. He's wearing a white t-shirt with
a square on the back. No other information on his description was available.
