It's a Boy! Zoo Welcomes Giraffe Calf

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- There's another mouth to feed at Springfield's Dickerson Park Zoo.
SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- There's another mouth to feed at Springfield's Dickerson Park Zoo.

Zoo officials say 9-year old Emma gave birth to her second calf Monday evening.  The male calf is not named yet.

Daddy is Peperuka - this is his 6th offspring. The calf's grandma is Gidget, the oldest giraffe in the zoo's herd.

The Zoo says you can see Emma and her calf in the exhibit yard along with giraffes Gidget, Cheka, and four juveniles (Pammy J, Caley, Mili and Anna Belle).  Peperuka is in a separate yard but still visible to the public.
