SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- A woman from Springfield is undergoing mental evaluation after allegedly setting a house on fire Wednesday.  She put her infant child outside the house before starting the blaze.

Police Lt. Robert Pitts says police were called to a house in the 2100 block of N. Delaware about 5:15 Wednesday evening.  They arrested the woman after she allegedly put her infant child in a baby carrier and took it outside the house, then set the house on fire.

The woman was taken to a local medical facility for a mental evaluation.  The baby, who was believed to be uninjured, was kept overnight at a local hospital for observation.
