SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- Springfield Police say they believe a deceased man was the subject of a homicide. The body of Curtis Payne, 31, was found in a home in Springfield Tuesday night.
Springfield police responded to the home on Dollison south of Seminole just before 9:30 p.m.
The original call to the residence was for a possible residential burglary, but when police entered the home they found the body of a man.
The man had apparent gunshot wounds, and an autopsy is scheduled for Thursday and the investigation is ongoing.
According to the Missouri Department of Corrections website, Payne previously served time in prison for charges including burglary, theft, forgery and drug charges.
Springfield Police spokeswoman Lisa Cox clarifies Payne was living in the residence.
