REEDS SPRING, Mo. -- A school lockdown just ended in Reeds Spring.

According to the Stone County Sheriff's Office, a person called authorities claiming a man showed up on his property near Yocum Pond Rd., covered in blood, saying he had shot his girlfriend.

Deputies searched the area for about three hours Thursday afternoon, but didn’t find a shooting victim, or a man covered in blood. So, they called off the search.

The school was locked down just as a precaution.

REEDS SPRING, Mo. -- Some students in Reeds Spring are still in their school Thursday evening in lockdown.

Superintendent Michael Mason says most of the kids were already loaded onto buses to depart when they got word that a man with a gun may have been in the area.

Those busses left and the remaining students went inside and locked the doors.

Mason says parents of those kids have been called and they are allowed to drive over and pick them up.

He says law enforcement told him they're looking for a suspect and the lockdown is just a precaution.

This story will be updated as more details are released.
