Police Identify Four Killed in Camden County Crash

OSAGE BEACH, Mo. - Four people are reported dead in the crash of a dump truck and pickup truck on Missouri 5 at the Niangua River bridge today.

OSAGE BEACH, Mo. -- Police have identified four people who died in a crash on Missouri 5 at the Niangua River bridge Wednesday morning.

According to a crash report, Randal D. Estes, 56, of Warsaw, Mo. was northbound on Mo. 5 in a dump truck when the front left tire went flat.  

Estes lost control of the truck and crossed into the southbound lane, striking a 2010 Ford F250 head-on.  The Ford was towing a boat, which continued forward and struck the truck in the rear.

The driver of the Ford, Terry L. Schroeder, 50, as well as Cindy Schroeder, 46, and Dylan Schroeder, 14, all of Benson, Ill. died at the scene.

Estes was also pronounced dead at the scene.

The only survivor of the accident, Donnie Schroeder, 14, of Benson, Ill.  was transported to the University of Missouri Hospital in Columbia by helicopter with serious injuries.

Sgt. Tim Tinnin, with Troop F of the Missouri Highway Patrol, said three of those killed were in the pickup and the driver of the dump truck is the fourth fatality.

Traffic is still being rerouted around the crash scene.

The Camden County Sheriff's Department and MoDOT said the crash blocked both lanes of Highway 5. Traffic may reopen over the bridge around mid-afternoon, MoDOT said.

Detours are set up for traffic:
•    Southbound traffic on Route 5 should take the following detour: Route 7 to Route J to Route 54.
•    Motorists traveling northbound on Route 5 should detour around the closure via: Route 54 to Route J to Route 7. 
•    Tractor-trailer trucks should avoid the area.
•    Southbound trucks should detour to Route 5 to Route 52 through Eldon to Route 54. Northbound trucks should detour via Route 54 to Route 52 through Eldon to Route 5.
