SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – At the end of the 2013 campaign, United Way of the Ozarks Campaign chair Paul Williams, Springfield Police Department, announced that, the annual workplace campaign has raised $3,828,200.
This is the second largest campaign in United Way of the Ozarks 83 year history, trending at approximately 1.5% under last year's record number, according to a news release.
The United Way Campaign Cabinet is comprised entirely of community volunteers, who contributed many hours with a common goal leading to the workplace campaign result.
United Way kicked off the campaign August 21 at the 2013 Day of Caring and announced a 2013 campaign stretch goal of $4,000,000. There are campaigns still running, including those in the Tri Lakes area.
"We will still be working hard to hit our goal, up until the very last minute that we officially close 2013," says Williams.
For the 2013 campaign, Community Foundation of the Ozarks provided a $40,000 matching grant to United Way.
It was used as a 'step up' incentive to move donors to the leadership level of giving, which begins at $1,000 or to help a donor achieve the emerging leader level of $500.
The grant money will be used through The Every Child Promise - providing the foundational funds to implement the initiatives' action plans and pilot programs that will focus on: Childhood abuse and neglect; poverty, homelessness, hunger, health care and early childhood education.
United Way of the Ozarks is a locally governed, volunteer-driven organization whose mission is to increase the understanding of human needs and mobilize resources to meet those needs.
United Way of the Ozarks funds over 40 programs and initiatives that address critical health and human service needs in a 14 county area.
