Two More Charged in Beating, Robbery of Elderly Man

WAYNESVILLE, Mo. – Two men face charges along with four other people in connection with the robbery and beating of an elderly man on July 25.
WAYNESVILLE, Mo. – Two men face charges along with four other people in connection with the robbery and beating of an elderly man on July 25.

According to online court documents, Vernon Dale Parker, 43, of Fulton, and Shawn A. Green, 33, of Waynesville face numerous charges and are jailed on $1 million cash-only bond each for the incident.

Parker has been charged with first-degree assault, first-degree burglary, theft/stealing of any firearm, theft/stealing of property more than $500, but less than $25,000, and felonious restraint.

Green is charged with first-degree assault, first-degree burglary, two counts of theft/stealing of any firearm, theft/stealing of property more than $500 but less than $25,000 and felonious restraint.

Green is in currently being held in the Pulaski County Jail, but Parker is jailed in the Missouri Department of Corrections for violating his parole.

The victim in the case, Robert Willhite, 82, is recovering from critical injuries sustained in the incident.

According to probable cause documents filed in the case, authorities believe Parker was the leader of the group and the one who beat Willhite. They say Green served as a lookout.

In a press conference last week, Pulaski County Sheriff Ronald Long says he believes the six arrested in the case are an organized crime group.

The following are the four others charged in Willhite’s assault:

  • Melissa A. Winkle, 34, of Crocker is charged with possession of burglary tools. She is in the Pulaski County Jail under a $30,000 cash or surety bond.
  • Jessica Anne Berry, 24, of Dixon, is charged with two felony counts of receiving stolen property. She is currently being held in the Pulaski County Jail under a $500,000 cash-only bond. Berry has since pleaded not guilty during an arraignment on July 30.
  • Thomas Ernest York, Jr. 34, of St. Robert, first-degree assault resulting in serious physical injury, first-degree burglary, felonious restraint, two counts of theft/stealing of a firearm, and two counts of unlawful possession of a firearm. He is in the Pulaski County Jail under a $1 million cash-only bond. York pleaded not guilty to all charges during an arraignment hearing on July 30.
  • Roby Sapere, 57, of Richland, is charged with first-degree assault and first-degree burglary. He is also being held in the Pulaski County Jail under a $1 million cash-only bond. Sapere pleaded not guilty during an arraignment on July 30.
